Free Skool is a way to bring the Olympia community together in learning new skills. Everyone has something to share, and everyone has something to learn, so we try to blur the lines between teacher and student as opposed to traditional schooling. In addition, classes are totally free, and if you want to take something all you have to do is come to the class. Free Skool is all ages and child care will be made possible upon request (we will do our best to accommodate other special needs as well.) We want to create an inclusive climate where everyone can feel welcome and ask that participants avoid language that could make people feel marginalized. Free Skool opposes racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, albeism, fatphobia, cissexism, ageism, and all other oppression. Here’s the calendar for February 2011 (click on the picture for the full calendar with descriptions, etc.)
Free Skool Olympia is going extremely well. I’m really stoked to be apart of it. If you dig any of these classes, and live in Olympia, consider joining one. If you want to share some knowledge, come to the FREE SKOOL FEAST on FEB 13th!
(Reblogging since this is my life outside of university)
If you are in the Portland/Olympia/Tacoma/Seattle area and want to attend free classes or facilitate a class, you should come on over to Free School Olympia. We’re pretty rand and you should come my class Art Jam.
