bendingsilverspoons asked: bahah exactly. I cannot stand the UC security.
yeah there's still rumors going around about it but I've never heard that! I'm on the 6th floor and apparently 613's haunted. there's frequently wind in our hall, which I dont understand seeing as we're up so high with no windows... some kids on our floor used a ouiji board and apparently the ghost's named RJ. and I dunno about anything on the second floor but the security guards all say the place is definitely haunted.
whaaaat? that's sweet. they're just student housing now, not Columbia owned, and all we see is people doing it in the giant windows... but out of all the Columbia housing I'm super glad I got put in lil Plymouth. our floor has become a tight knit community
lol yeah. Idk if the building across the street was ever owned by CCC but idk it was always fun to watch the people there lol.
Yeah, that place is really haunted. (i don’t remember what I said in the last message exactly) Before Printer’s Row was Printer’s Row, Deerborn Station used to be a train station where people would come into chicago from the rural areas during the Industrial Revolution era (if i’m remembering correctly) and there would be an “army of pimps” hanging out outside of the station to lure niave rural girls into prostitution (since they’d come to the city for jobs most likely). And guys used to get kidnapped and get drugged beaten and sexually assaulted and what not over in that neighborhood. It was called the Paris of the US (which at the time wasn’t a compliment since paris was seen as pretty dirty and gross at the time). But yeah, then it turned into Printer’s Row where they had the publishing plants/book making factories and warehouses and what not. So yeah, Plymouth was at one point that and at another point a children’s insane asylum. Supposedly if you become a person that does campus tours they’ll take you down to the basement where there’s still a lobotomy table bolted to the ground and shelves and what not where they used to keep the tools for that surgery.
The whole building is haunted but just particularly the 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th floors. I know when I lived there back in 2008/09, my RA said he wanted to get a ouiji board to do some stuff there but yeah fuck that shit. idk I stay away from that. I’ve heard of too many bad stories happening with that.
lol maybe one day I’ll record myself telling all the stories of Plymouth that I know. I know whenever I tell them it ended up taken 45 minutes to an hour to get them all in. I still think it’s kind of interesting. I’d be interested in hearing the stories that you know as well.
:)
It’s weird, even though I’ve left that place, I’m still fascinated by it’s history.
